Become a Travel Writer?
I was going to use this page to feature a prominent travel-writing correspondence course; one I’d invested in myself a few summers ago. The course is fun and—even though I haven’t gotten around yet to completing more than a few chapters—it inspired me to start this blog, which I really enjoy working on.
However, once I became more realistic about what it takes to break in, I decided to be a travel blogger for my own pleasure.
That may change later, but in the meantime I’d like to share a link with you. Here’s travel writer Tim Leffel with the real story. To quote from his bio, Tim is “an award-winning travel writer who has circled the globe three times and has dispatched articles from five continents.” Sounds like he might know what he’s talking about when it comes to doing this as a career.
The Seven Myths of Being a Travel Writer
P.S. If you just want to do some travel writing for fun, there’s an opportunity to do so here on my site. (Tip: Even though it’s for fun, I like to present a professional appearance. So be prepared to put in the work to turn in a publishable article.)
